Giveaway #2 – My Favorite Things
One of my favorite things to do is read. I will never forget my “first” book. I was in my early teens. I had never read for pleasure – only enough to get by. When we were required to read a book for school, I would skim my way through and use Cliffnotes for the details. Once, we had to pick a book from a list. My wise mother, an avid reader, suggested I choose “To Kill a Mockingbird”. I’m not exaggerating when I say that this book changed my life. I could not stop reading – I wanted to stay and live in that world. After finishing, I couldn’t imagine that any other book would be as good. But I now realized the power of the written word. It was like stepping into a new world.

Some of my favorites include; Atlas Shrugged, Man’s Search for Meaning, Jane Eyre, Ender’s Game, To Say Nothing of the Dog, and The Road.

Entries will be taken until Thursday, January 14, 2010, 9:00pm PST. Winners will be announced Thursday night, before the next giveaway. There will be ten giveaways, three per week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, until February 1st. Winners will be chosen randomly. All sessions will take place in Las Vegas, Summerlin or Henderson areas. All sessions must take place before December 31st, 2010. If I don’t hear from you within 7 days to claim your giveaway, another winner will be chosen. So check back often to see if you won!

I always loved the classics…Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, etc. Lately it seems all I have time to read are cookbooks.
My first book was “Are you there God its me Margrett”.
Great book at the time, as I was a late bloomer and it was about a girl waiting to get her Period. LOL…
I LOVE To Kill a Mockingbird! I read it in High School! I think the first book I really fell in love with was Little Women when I was 11. I had a HUGE crush on Laurie! After that I read all of the Anne of Green Gables books and then found my favorite author Jane Austen and read all of her books! WOW! This post really makes me want to pick up a book and READ!! Christina – I know how you feel! My youngest is older now – almost 4, so I have much more time to read. Misti – I was a late bloomer too – torture! Bonny – you should join the book club – we read really great books :)
