A different kind of family session | Las Vegas Portrait Photographer

What makes your family fun? What do you do together? Do you love to play soccer together? Hiking? Basketball? Maybe going out for ice cream is your thing. Do you love to snuggle up at home and watch movies? Maybe you all love to go to the donut shop and watch them make donuts then taste one hot off the rack. Have you ever wanted to have a different kind of family session? One that doesn’t involve dressing up fancy and hassling your kids to sit still and smile pretty? The best way I know to get natural, unforced really-happy smiles is to put families in situations where they’re naturally happy. This time of year is a fun time for me because I get to slow down and really focus on my creative side. I want to do more sessions where the family is doing some activity together. Where I can capture natural, spontaneous interactions, nothing forced or posed. Just real moments. Together.

So. Leave a comment and tell me what activity your family just loves to do together. I want to hear all about it- because I will be offering my favorite commenter a free session. A free different kind of session.

I should also mention I love washing our car in the driveway with the boys. I throw on my string bikini (Tod in his speedo) and suds fly.

Not really but wouldn’t it be funny.

You make me laugh out loud! Car wash would be a blast- with or without bikinis :)

Well our most favorite thing to do as a family is go to Disneyland. The kids love the road trip…eating in the car, getting treats at the gas station, playing the ipod on the way there. Last time we were there Kevin took the kids back at night they went on their favorite rides over and over. Our second favorite thing to do is to go out to eat at a “dessert restaurant” (no McDonalds, BK, etc.) which usually means The Cheesecake Factory. We’ll get the kids a big slice of chocolate cake to share which they will eat until they can’t take any more and then if I have any space left at all I’ll polish it off. If we’re at BJs they get a pizzokie and Colby pretty much shovels food into his mouth. It’s quite barbaric actually but we love it!

I have the absolutely the most dramatic family ever (dan exempt) so no matter what we are doing playing board games, swimming in the pool, out for dinner or dessert, at the park, watching a movie or just riding bikes in front of our house it is sure to be loud, crazy, happy and sad, laughter and tears, the highest of highs and the lowest of lows all in less than an hour. We are dramatic! So if you want to capture some serious emotion in any enviornment we are your family.
