once there was a snowman

What better way to spend Christmas Eve in Las Vegas than driving to Mt. Charleston with our neighbors, loading up their truck with snow, driving back home and building a freaking snowman in the middle of the street? What better way to spend Christmas Eve in Las Vegas than driving to Mt. Charleston with our neighbors, loading up their truck with snow, driving back home and building a freaking snowman in the middle of the street? Ok, so I didn’t even go because I had Christmas Eve cooking to do for our family dinner… but Jim and the kids went and it was hilariously weird. Of course we got a few weird looks as people drove by…but that’s how you create memories, right?

I thought he would melt quick, but he actually hung out for a few days. Until a terrible hit and run accident…

Of course a spontaneous snow ball fight ensued…

One of my goals this year is to share more on this blog. Regularly. Stuff about me. Not all of it about photography. So yes, it feels weird to share this recipe for homeade cleaner. But oh well, I will have to get over it!

Every six months or so, I get creeped out about how many chemicals it seems my family is exposed to. I go on a chemical rampage and throw it all out. Then a few months later I calm down and start buying regular cleaner again. It’s just how I roll.

So I was on this non-chemical kick a little while ago and I found this great little recipe for homeade all purpose cleaner. I use it mainly for the kitchen, since it seems I’m cleaning it all the time anyway.

2 Tbs white vinegar
1 tsp Borax
3-5 drops of dish soap
15-20 drops Essential oils

Mix right into an empty spray bottle, then fill it up with hot water.

I use essential oils, so I have a lot to choose from, but you can find these in any health food store. I love citrus-y oils for my cleaner, but I also use Lavendar, it’s very relaxing.

Notes: Grab a sharpie and write the recipe right on the bottle for future use. Also, the vinegar smells awful at first. Don’t worry… once the mixture sits a few hours, the essential oils kick in and overpower the vinegar.
